Sowing Seeds Family Music Class

a music education that honors the creator while nurturing the child

Welcome to the sweetest 45 minutes of your week

Sowing Seeds is a 45-minute family music class for children ages 0–5 and their grown-ups, built around the way young children naturally learn: through repetition, movement, imitation, exploration, listening, and relationship.

Each week, families move through a familiar musical rhythm that gives children both the security of knowing what comes next and the freedom to explore.

We Welcome & Connect

We begin with welcome songs, name songs, fingerplays, gentle movement, and parent-child connection. These familiar rituals help children feel safe, known, and ready to participate.

We Sing & Move

Through community songs, lap songs, movement songs, circle games, and call-and-response, children develop musical confidence while experiencing beat, rhythm, melody, and musical expression through their whole bodies.

We Explore Instruments

Children are given opportunities to experiment with real sounds and musical tools—including shakers, rhythm sticks, bells, drums, and scarves. Rather than simply being shown how to use an instrument, they are invited to discover what it can do.

We Listen & Wonder

Through story songs, live music, recorded music, humming, and quiet observation, we make space for children to listen deeply and notice what they hear. Our stories and musical themes draw from the beauty of creation and everyday experiences; seeds, rain, birds, rivers, light, harvest, kindness, and community.

We Create Together

Family Jam gives children and grown-ups space for open-ended musical exploration. There isn’t always a “right” way to participate. Children can experiment, improvise, respond, move, sing, or simply observe while their grown-ups make music alongside them.

We Pause

Every class includes a Selah moment, a small pocket of stillness within the music. We slow down, listen, breathe, and notice. Because learning music isn’t only about making sound; it is also about learning how to receive it.

We Gather & Give Thanks

We close each class with a goodbye song, gentle movement, breathing, gratitude, and a closing blessing, giving families a peaceful way to transition back into their day.

The Heart of It

Sowing Seeds isn’t designed to rush children toward performance or achievement.

We sow faithfully.
 We nurture patiently.
God brings the growth.

Our hope is that children leave with more than a collection of songs. We want them to begin developing a musical vocabulary, confidence in their own expression, a love of listening, and an understanding that music can be a way to connect with themselves, with their grown-ups, with one another, and with God.

We make music.
 We make space to listen.
 We wonder together.
 We grow together.
