Sound & Wonder

listen | imagine | make music

Sound & Wonder is a music class for young children that develops the foundations of musical understanding. Children will learn to recognize and remember musical patterns, match pitch, keep a steady beat, respond to musical cues, and make their own musical choices.

One of the fascinating things about music is that we can hear it in our minds even when no sound is being made. A child can remember a familiar tune, anticipate the next part of a song, or imagine a sound before playing it. Sound & Wonder gives children opportunities to develop this ability through playful musical experiences.

weekly learning

Each week, children will build their listening and musical memory while exploring how music works. They will practice hearing patterns, predicting what comes next, responding to musical ideas, and creating their own.

each class follows a familiar flow:

  • Welcome Circle

  • Community Song Set

  • Instrument Exploration

  • Story Song & Wonder Time

  • Moment to Listen & Be Quiet

  • Jam Session

  • Goodbye Circle

For children ages 2 and under, a parent or caregiver is required to attend and actively participate in class. Children ages 3 and up may attend independently without a parent or caregiver present. Parents, caregivers, and siblings of older children are always welcome to stay and participate. All siblings and family members are welcome to attend as well.

Children attending without a parent or caregiver must use the bathroom independently.
